The Team and the Role
In this role, you will work with our CEO and colleagues across the business.
We are recruiting for a part time (50% weight) flexible role. You should have good experience. You will be able to work remotely with some agreed contact days within the business.
You may have been in a Management Accountant or similar role in the past and looking for a more flexible set-up.
GAY TIMES is a media platform and we also produce partnership campaigns and events. That means a lot of our work is project-based, so you should have some experience of project accounting, as well as working in a media, advertising, tech or similar fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support the CEO on budgeting for the company and business units
Variance analysis for costs vs revenue
Performance reporting for business leads
Management Information Pack support
FPNA (Financial Planning and Analysis)
Support on international USD revenue budgeting
Budgeting and forecasting on projects carried out within the business
Process accounts payable invoices and weekly pay runs
Prepare accounts receivable invoices and manage submission to client portals
Credit control management
Completion of Bank reconciliations
Review sales contracts and ensure understanding of timing and appropriate revenue stream
Prepare Month end deferred and accrued revenue journals, ensuring proper revenue recognition and reporting reconciliation
WIP management - prepare expense/cost journal entries with rigorous closing schedules and account reconciliations
Review & prepare accruals and prepayments to ensure all monthly postings to the P&L are accurate along with supporting schedules, verifying agreement to ledger
Maintaining fixed asset register and preparing depreciation journals
Perform balance sheet reconciliations - Responsibility for ensuring a robust monthly balance
sheet and providing full monthly analysis of all balance sheet balances
Posting of monthly payrolls and the reconciliation of appropriate ledgers
Prepare quarterly VAT Returns and submit to HMRC via MTD
Corporation Tax
Skills you should have
Experience budgeting
Experience managing multi-currency revenue
Experience putting together financial statements, reports
Experience of, or desire to grow into, taking sole responsibility for producing monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations
Experience in project accounting, including WIP management and change
Knowledge of UK tax regime including corporation tax, VAT, and payroll and benefits.
Understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) reporting regime.
Must have had time in industry
Xero experience preferred
Excellent attention to detail
Collaborative working style - you are able to have conversations about Finance questions with non-finance colleagues and explain things from their point of view, as well as understand their business requirements
Proactive and flexible attitude - focus on getting things done
Awareness of LGBTQ+ topics and culture
